Measurements of Slowness -Digestive System of a Landscape

To start I made a film as a starting point for this thesis project. In the film, there is a thread, and clothes begin to hang on both sides of thread, and the weight of the clothes starts to accumulate. Over time and accumulation, the thread breaks due to weight and pressure. The film is a representation of pressure causes by materialism, and the line breaks eventually.

Then I made a mechanism to hang weights and use springs to create a mechanism where the weight is converted into length. Then I drew a set of time-lapse drawing and divided them into four stages. To interpret, the body starts to hang weights in the space, the weights start to shift the boundary, the weights began to move to the middle, the weights, boundary and the body creates a negative yellow space, forcing the body to move from the middle to the left. The boundary continues to expand, and the yellow space is created. The body moves from the left to the bottom and then to the right, and finally the movement of the body stops at the bottom. This is the results of the negotiation of bodies, objects, boundaries, and forces.

How a shifting boundary changes the posture of a body, the body includes human body and the body of the Earth. Coastal subsidence caused by over-pumping of groundwater the surface of the Earth becomes a malleable skin mirroring the imbalance of the fluid extracted from the planetary body. I want to create a new thickness in this post-industrial abandoned salt pan, so that the traces of the past begin to have new boundaries. I constructed a landscape digestion system and redesigned it as a control system for the new landscape using 2 sluice gates to control freshwater and sea water, high tide and low tide.
