The Redefinition of Courtyard | Government as a Place of Daily Life for Citizens

Ancient Chinese courtyards and gardens have formed an appropriate coexistence relationship between humans and the environment.Therefore, in this research,poetry and courtyard are used to study the order; and integrate them by borrowing the patterns of metrics and compositions in poems.For example,courtyards and veranda can represent virtual and reality, internal and external, stillness and movement, existence and non-existence... the relative relationship between courtyard and veranda can find harmony between human and nature.

As a government that connects with the people and symbolizes the spirit of the city, it should be a public place rather than an organization with only efficiency and office. The establishment of publicity is an opportunity for people to participate in public affairs.To create coexistence between the institution and the daily of people.The new government becomes an organization that enables citizens to talk and connect with the government, serving as a space for social learning and public forum.

The relationship between courtyard and the garden can create harmony with people and nature. The design aimed to redefine the courtyard by investigating the coexistence between institutions and our daily.Through the research of yard and veranda in this era, people and institutions bring about new possibilities and forms. Therefore, we redefine the historic site where the Hsinchu Government is located. Deconstruct the departmental space and turn the office into a place which belongs to the city and people.
