G.La.Pr.R – Global Laboratory of Produce Research
The site is on Mount. Dadu, Taichung. North of Taichung Metropolitan Park and west of Central Taiwan Science Park. I aim to combine two industries, agriculture and high-tech industries, to form a new biotech location on Mount. Dadu. Planet colonization is upon us, and I want my design to be at the forefront of scientific research by morphing hotel and GMO research labs into one structure.
Created with the landscape in mind-the hotel structure is elevated above ground supported with thin columns to mimic the surrounding tree trunks with louvers to imitate the porous leaves. The rest of the building is either placed under or on the ground to distinguish between the programs. Engaging both nature and advancing technology is what drives this project and bringing opportunities to the planet beyond.
