The Countdown Party in Zhuwei Village
"The originally homogeneous distribution of (events) has gathered together, and these point-like distributed events have generated (some new order). While maintaining the original intention, these new orders take different forms based on escaping space (deviating from practicality), escaping from the original position, and escaping scale."Designing the base in Zhuwei Village, Dayuan District,Taoyuan City, which is the designated site for the third runway of the Taoyuan Aerotropolis, and the only village to be completely acquired. The residents of Zhuwei Village started to relocate in March 2022 and will be completely evacuated by October 2024. During this period, some residents, furniture, and activities have overflowed from their original locations, leaving behind vacant houses and objects. Thus, I will act as a curator and plan a countdown party. The theater will give the base a new operating time and utilize vacant houses and objects collected from Zhuwei Village (such as signs, iron bars, scrap materials, etc.) that will be reclassified and repurposed. The theater will showcase a three-act play with changing scenes, gradually dismantling the architecture, allowing the audience and actors to have different perspectives and interactions in each act. After the final object exhibition, the design itself will also disappear along with Zhuwei Village.
